Prior to the special screening of the film “Jan” at the Youth Theater in Sarajevo, Spanish actress Mirela Balić received the Telemach Youth Film Festival Sarajevo award for Best Actress in a TV Series.

The award was presented to her by the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Sarajevo Canton, Kenan Magoda.

Balić has already filmed several movies and TV series, gaining the most popularity in the globally popular Spanish series “Elite” produced by Netflix.

Given that her parents are originally from Serbia and Croatia, Mirela expressed her excitement about coming to Sarajevo. Upon receiving the award, she dedicated it to her grandmother and grandfather.

“Thank you, Sarajevo. I am happy and excited. I am nervous. I am especially glad that this award is in our language. I know my grandma and grandpa will scold me about my grammar,” Balić said.

The popular actress arrived in Sarajevo late last night, and after touring the festival locations and numerous interviews, she spent the day enjoying gourmet delights, particularly looking forward to Sarajevo’s ćevapi.

“Mirela has fully justified the award we gave her. She is a young, successful, and talented actress. In her, we see the values of the OFF – the artistic exchange of young filmmakers, the promotion of talented actors and directors, solidarity, and the affirmation of human rights through film art,” said the director of the Telemach Youth Film Festival, Kenan Musić.

Festival visitors can look forward to three more days filled with film and music events.
