Hanna Bringmann Slak

GER/SLO Film Director and Screenwriter

Hanna Bringmann Slak is a German-Slovenian film director and screenwriter, born in Warsaw and currently based in Berlin. 
She has written and directed a number of acclaimed feature films, including Blind Spot (2001), Teah (2007), The Miner (Rudar, 2017), and Not a Word (Kein Wort, 2023), alongside numerous documentaries and experimental shorts. Her films have been screened at prestigious festivals such as Cannes, Berlinale, Toronto, Rotterdam, and Locarno. In addition to her work in film, Slak also writes for the theatre. Her feature The Miner was Slovenia’s official submission for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2018 Academy Awards.
