The Telemach Youth Film Festival Sarajevo has unveiled its now traditional OFF Retrospective program, which annually brings back some of the finest cinematic achievements produced over the past 20 years.
These are films with notable festival premieres, screenings, and awards—films that many in the new generation have not yet had the chance to see—now once again brought to life within the Festival’s atmosphere.
Scheduled for the 2025 OFF Retrospective are three films: Children by Aida Begić from Bosnia and Herzegovina, The Parade by Serbian director Srđan Dragojević, and the French-American film The Dreamers by Bernardo Bertolucci.
Children (2012), by Bosnian director Aida Begić, premiered in the Un Certain Regard program at the Cannes Film Festival. It follows the lives of war orphans in Sarajevo, focusing on their struggle for survival and dignity in a post-war society.
The Dreamers (2003), a controversial film by French director Bernardo Bertolucci, premiered at the Venice Film Festival. Set in Paris during the 1968 student protests, it explores themes of sexuality, politics, and youthful rebellion through the story of three young people.
The Parade (2011), directed by Serbia’s Srđan Dragojević, had its world premiere at the 2011 Berlinale. It satirically portrays the fight for LGBT+ rights in a homophobic society through the story of a group of former wartime enemies who become bodyguards for the Belgrade Pride Parade.
The films in this program will be screened at the Summer Cinema at Vilsonovo Promenade.
Tickets for the 17th Telemach Youth Film Festival Sarajevo will be available exclusively online from July 8, 2025, at www.tickets.omladinski.ba or via the Entrio.ba system.
It is important to note that on July 8, Telemach OFF will present the complete program of all events. Organizers are promising another exciting festival week featuring more than 70 short and feature-length films. Ahead of the festival, special guests and stars of this year’s edition will also be announced, along with recipients of special awards.
The Youth Film Festival Sarajevo is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Sarajevo Canton, the Municipality of Centar, and the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo.
